was curious as to the general think on what others consider preservation of vintage collectable knives , for instance WW2 nilitary such as Mk 1 , Mk 2 , and M3 knives , or even the 225Q , but any non military collectable as well
i see some that spit shine and polish to new appearance , i prefer to leave the patina and just arrest any oxidation that may be present

If you have a knife in good condition, it should be preserved and kept in good condition.
If it is not pristine, you should at the very least preserve it as best you can.

Re: consencus on WW2 knife preservation
i understand the "its your knife do as you will" rule , but i hate to see people ,and i do all the time grab a nice ww2 bayo or knife and the first thing they do is have at it with a polishing wheel and try to turn it into a something that looks like it was purchased of Temu
seen a fella on one of my gun forums who grabbed a nice Cattaraugus 225Q a month or so ago and he mirror polished the thing , it looked hideous , i know its none of my business which is why i elected not to comment , but it kind of bugged me
