Orang Zaib Picklock

Post by johns7076 »

Just got this 11" by Pakistani maker Orang Zaib. First one of his I have purchased, quite impressed. Heavy, good spring, nice construction. I also have some Samir Ahmad knives and they are equally well made, a bit overdone, but nice knives. Only complaint with this one is the locking tab sticks up too high.

I'm glad to see posts like this. We all know what has and is happening with the skilled knife makers who hand craft traditional switchblades using traditional materials and methods. I hope the Pakastani ( and other) makers will learn that there is a market for well made switchblades of traditional design than are not overly gaudy.

By the way, that looks a nice one.

Really attractive knife! Very reminiscent of my Pascotto Frosolone. What's the scale material? Looks similar to ram's horn, but maybe a little different...?

The safety slide button seems really high; I'd be concerned about it catching on the fabric of my pocket if I ever wanted to carry it. Otherwise the construction
appears to be excellent.

Congratulations on scoring a knife that looks like a quality piece. Might we inquire into the price range of Mr. Zaib's knives?

Scales are horn. Orang Zaib knives can be found on several knife sites, check Apple Valley Knives. I paid $325 for this one.

He does good work. I have one of his knives that he did with direction from Dave S. in the art of kris blade patterns! I had him build me one a couple years back and throw a diamond button on it!
