7" manual humpback

Post by Bartlow »

Jules Vane's pictures of his very nice, automatic, humpback inspired me to find my only example. It's a manual and also 7" but has ears. I remembered as being beat up, and the blade has definitely been overenthusiastically sharpened. On one side of the blade it says "patent 77431" and on the other "TICo Italy."

Nice one too bad about the blade, but it’s still a a fine example of a manual humpback. The stamp is one I don’t recall. Thanks again for posting your vintage knife.

I think TICo is Topline Industries Corp but I am not sure. The horn got nibbled and apparently sanded a little. But overall once I got it out I think it’s better than I remembered. I think the pattern on the blade pivot pin is interesting. The hammer face made that x looking thing on it. These are definitely different knives as Jules’ post said.

That's cool! I've seen some of the larger, maybe 11", manual humpbacks on eBay with mega-high prices on them. They are certainly sought after, and not so easy to find. I think I have a few manual humpbacks from Japan, but never found an Italian model.
