Have JERRBEAR 2016 # 3 in front of me now. I keep it in my desk drawer under my computer so it's handy, and feel like it honors him more by doing that instead of putting it away for safekeeping somewhere. Always loved Lightnings and had quite a few before he passed, but of course this one is definitely special. He was one memorable dude for sure.

Yeah, those Lightning models are pretty good for what they cost if you're looking for something to use and abuse.

I finally broke down and bought a Piranha Excalibur and that puppy would make a great workhorse, but it cost so much that I treat it like another collectible knife. Oiled, polished and tucked away!

I have a Boker USA OTF that's also very well made and a lot cheaper than an Excalibur, etc. It's a solid knife too.

Cheers.

Take a look at the Piranha 'Rated X' OTF -- the handle is a little more streamlined than the 'Excalibur' and the blade is a bit longer. It also costs about $70 less.

I bought one with a red handle and one with a plum-colored handle, to have a nice complementary pair.
But you're right --the thought of scrapes and scratches makes me wince, so they stay in their boxes.....

Those are super sweet! I do have a Rated X too! It's blue with a mirror polish blade. Altogether, I probably have about 8 Piranha knives (Piranhi?) Mostly because the quality surpasses the cost in most cases and the logo is just so damn cool!

I might have to buy a Cobratec OTF! They look good!!

I have 3 of their hidden release Trappers (white, black and red bone), and they're very well made for the price point!
