Alaskan Guide knife
I nearly forgot I had this blade. Not my favorite but I do like the lines and how it fits my hand. The handles are black micarta with a nice contour. Tang etching is Browning logo. China on reverse side. Very sharp right out of the box.

Re: Alaskan Guide knife
I have had a few of the Browning knives over the years and they all seemed pretty well made and came sharper than most knives.
Re: Alaskan Guide knife
Luke
I really like that .
The blade profile is nice and with that handle shape, would be a great bushcraft knife .

Re: Alaskan Guide knife
Ian, my concern is the blade holding up under rough use . It goes from about 4mm at the spine to very thin very quickly into the width. From the cutting edge back about half way in it's not much heavier than a utility blade.
Re: Alaskan Guide knife
I see Luke .So no good for bushcraft my mistake .
Still its a looker and maybe a good skinner..
I like scandi grinds they usually do away with that problem ,good for batoning and easy to sharpen .
If you get a chance look at the sissipukkos ,swedish army knife .I posted one a while back .
Good allround knives .

Re: Alaskan Guide knife
Those do look like handy, practical knives, Ian. On my thread titled "my favorite fixed blades" there are pictured two Schrade pieces, essentially the same model in different blade lengths. They would be my go-to picks, most likely the 5". Blade thickness is 1/4" or 6mm. The sheaths include a diamond sharpener and a fire starter rod with striker.
Re: Alaskan Guide knife
I saw them that you posted Luke nice users and I love the Schrades mate .
Also like the Ka bars ,Esees ,Tops etc but I dont get out as much as I used to with my knives for bushcraft ,used to love shelter building making bows, arrows ,knives etc ....really miss it
I wish I lived in the U.S would be out as much as my bad heart let me .

Re: Alaskan Guide knife
Straight razor. That's what the blade's grind is similar to. I wish I'd been able to access that when I was so poorly describing it in the previous post. Of course it's not THAT thin, but same concept.
