Re: Recent "Frank B Limited Edition" Addition
I like it Jim. But also I’m a big fan of some nice dark horn as well! I love all those limited edition 9’ers that Frank B made back in the day their just amazing little switchblades! I’m grateful just to have one myself. It’s a gem in stag horn. Sure I would love a few more but then again they are very expensive, however their worth every penny. For the most part, I truly believe that one gets what they pay for. Anyways she’s a beaut. Take it easy!

Re: Recent "Frank B Limited Edition" Addition
The first flat buttons appeared on the initial run of Walt's Flatguard which Walter Halucha had Frank make for him back in mid 2004. These knives were numbered on the back of the tang (2 of mine are 007 with one 008) with "Walt's Flat Guard" on the front. They came in the then standard flavors, light horn, stag and dark horn.
After that run, Frank continued to produce pretty much the same knife, some with the modified bayo blade and some with the more traditional bayo but without any attribution to Walt. Apparently, each thought they owned the button and guard designs. After some time, they resolved their differences to the betterment of our hobby.
Then there was the Keith Newman imbroglio featuring 11" swingers with the flat button, but that is another story....

Thanks for the additional info, Natcherly.natcherly wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 11:19 pmThe first Limited Edition from Frank was in 2001, a forum knife for the TSF forum. At one time that was the place to go for serious collectors. Frank made a run for them of the first picklocks in over 40 years. They came with polished stainless or Damascus bayo blades and included a wood box. My set, acquired in 2006, is pictured below. In 2003 I bought a 11" pick directly from Frank. Aside from FRANK B ITALY, it has no other markings, but it could be considered a 2002 or 2003 edition as Frank did not make many runs of these at first. It took him a couple of years before he put on the Edition / Year markings.

Hey all, this is my one and only Frank B limited edition 9 inch Picklock with high grade stag horn! I love the classic dagger grind blade profile. She has Rock solid lockup on this little gem it’s from the 07 run and actually it isn’t numbered! *a little tidbit of info*. I heard these 9ers are Frank Beltrame’s favorite knifes to carry and that he never leaves his home without it. I don’t blame him since the quality and build is astonishing. Well Take it easy everybody!
