Extension Knives from JimBrown257
First off, let me say that I totally love working with Jeremy (JimBrown257) because he turns my crazy ideas into reality. The last two he has built for me are "extension" knives. That is, they have disproportionately long blades on shorter handles. When they are open, the look like regular 13's except for those impossible blades. When you close them, there's a spring loaded extension that hides itself in the blade well. I designed both of these from Russian Prison Knife inspiration and some other sources too numerous to mention here. Sharp eyed observers will note that the designs got subtly altered between the drawing board and reality and with my complete endorsement and joy in the final results. I often encourage Jeremey to do just whatever he thinks works best, and that alternative is always better than my original concept.
First, here are the pictures:
The upper one in dyed giraffe bone is the Sub-Hilt Seal Recon Fighter and the lower one in dyed Buckey Burl is the RPKDagger.
When I provide scale materail to Jeremy, not only do I get exactly what I want, but also things match fore and aft and I don't end up with an oreo.
The Sub-Hilt has a standard exposed rocker and the upswept Bowie style blade the Seals favor. The RPK dagger has a swept plunge dagger blade with a parabolic profile. Most Italians use a combination of straight lines and constant radius curves. The parabolic is a continuously changing radius, large at the ricasso and small at the point. This means the edge curves down to the point very gradually at the ricasso and abruptly at the tip. This makes for a wider blade throughout the length and a grind that is easier to produce. On this one the rocker is reversed so that the fire button is very near the end of the handle instead of in the middle. I went over the top on this one and designed the longest blade and shortest handle I could come up with.
I haven't figured a good way to post videos in this forum, so here are links to where you can see YouTube videos of the knives in action.

Dave, you should post a video of them firing. It's kind of a windshield wiper effect.
