First picklock & I am disappointed

Post by Scotchman »

Blade is sharpened/ground badly, description said "sharpened a little", and a bug bite which I knew. Is there anyone willing, if possible to put a new blade ( swedge or flat grind blade) on it and fix the bug bite? Pics to follow.

This is why I usually only buy vintage knives if I can handle them first unless it's someone who I already know who is selling them to me... this could be a rare stamp so it might just be better to get the peek fixed and rescale the knife rather than shit-canning the blade entirely.

You sure do find some stinkers. Hope you didn't pay much.

I think they meant to say "Blade sharpened, a little left".

I wouldn't have a replacement blade made for that. Having a new blade made kind of defeats the purpose of buying a vintage knife. And you'd end up paying about as much as you'd pay for a different picklock.

As for the bug bite, that is not too bad, but it kind of looks like someone started to patch it with Super Glue (noticed the shiney area around the bite) but then quit after the first layer.

One good thing about that knife: that is a great stamp. I don't mean the rarity of the MII stamp; I mean the stamping was done well. You rarely (ever?) see a stamp that nice and deep and perfectly even.

I didn't know the blade was going to look like that. I put super glue in the bug bite and I thought it had dried when I went to sand it down, that's why it looks like that. I will try again and make sure it is dry before I sand it. I paid $245.00 free shipping.

I wouldn't blame you for being disappointed. Any chance you can return it?

I agree with Jeremy!
Re-sell it and buy something else. That stamp is one I haven't seen an over abundance of.
