Hi portlandmike
I bought one of those china knives with the gold and dragons too.
They are 9 and 3/4 inch which makes them stand out a bit.
Nice novelty.

Hi Bill
I don't think we should overlook the possibility that these 'fantasy knives' were made in Germany in the 60s after the war.
There are the Othello switchblades made in Germany. Just google them.
This 'fantasy knife' even kind of looks like the Othello style of construction.
There is also the possibility that they were made by the underground Nazi movement after the war.
That would explain the scarcity as they would have been illegal.
The one on ebay came out of Romania. It was a flat grind. It did not have 440 on it and the catch pit was not drilled through
which I consider to be a sign of a copy.
They are not junk. These are hot man!

Re: Vintage German WWII fantasy switchblade
One posted on sharperdeal forum awhile back. I think it was on eBay, don't know what it went for or if it was the exact one as this one but it had the Nazi theme and it seems like it was pricy. Same rare bull as advertised on this one. It was a year or so ago and someone here that frequents that forum may remember it. I can't log on there anymore, think it's the phoneBill DeShivs wrote:Don't remember, but someone was asking about one just like it- so it's not unique.

Qwerty-
There have never been any Italian stiletto type knives made in Germany. The Othello knives, and others, were made in Maniago, Italy-for sale in Germany.
Apparently, you wouldn't know a good knife if it stuck you in the ass.

Bill
Collectors buy what is available. That is why prices are going up on nice lower end knives.
I happen to like the Othello knives and would buy some more.
I'm sure your collection of flat guards is awesome.
I have only been collecting switchblades for less than a year.
So I am not challenging your obvious supremacy. Ta Ta.

Russian Prison Knives also feature Nazi logos sometimes, much like American prison tattoos. It's counter culture and white racist propoganda.
