After reading up on your other forum, the knife101 one, I read that you suggested having a stock pile of nickel silver rods. My question is this, is the NS rod ever used as a pivot?
Second question, what can be done about a weak spring? Is there a correct procedure for putting a bit more bend in the curve? Better yet, can it be done without disassembling the knife?
Mr. Bill, two questions for you.

Looking for those un-repairable, lost cause stilettos.

Re: Mr. Bill, two questions for you.
In restoration work, nickel silver is seldom used for pivots. In custom work, it can be used as a pivot.
Bending springs is iffy. Whether the can be successfully bent depends on many factors. If the spring can be bent at the proper spot, and bent just enough to surpass it's elastic limit in that spot, the technique works. On modern Italian stilettos, the spring can be bent near the tip a small amount.
You can make a tool with a 1/4" long slot to bend the spring tip.

Hi Bill,
If using nickel silver bolsters what pin stock is used so as to hide the pin?

Nickel silver. Taper the pin holes, and whack the pin hard. File off excess and polish.
