Hellraiser

Post by gravknife »

Hello to everybody here

I have been having a bleak spell due to losing a few knives this month but i have been lucky with my latest acquisition .

This hellraiser popped up on ebay and i threw in a bid only for it to be pulled the next day by the ebay police .

I luckily had kept the sellers details from a message i had sent asking about the knifes condition and if it worked etc.
We dealt outside of ebay and i got it for a steal .

Its the hellraiser with PAT. Number and INOX whereas my first was unmarked..
It is strange in appearance as the plastic insert is totally white and has probably lost its paint ...unless this a the rare" white" hellraiser :P

Mechanics on this one excellent and tight.
The guards behave well enough and the blade release is very firm on this one.
Locks up and fires well and has very little of the silver finish (which hides the pot metal tombac frame)missing.
Blade needs a clean and tidy up,then polish but nearly full just slightly over zealously sharpened.

I will probably paint it but would be grateful for any help with the best type of paint to use ie enamel etc.

Thought i would share here as i wont be buying for a while now and these are great looking knives for your show cases.

I hope you are all well and good luck with your collecting.

Hi Ian,
I’ve never seen a white one. If the scales were ever colored there would have to be traces in those groves. I don’t know if I would paint it. If you do, use a high quality model car paint or something similar.
By the way fabulous find.
John
PS now that you have a set of guards to copy get yourself a piece of steel and make a set of swing guards.

Thanks for the kind comments guys.

There is something about the film knives that captivate the imagination.I was fascinated by the amount of views the topic "Switchblades in the movies " got, and since Johhny Cades Shellpuller brought me to talkblade where i met some great freinds I really came to love the film knives.

John
I have no idea wether or not this knife was ever painted.I cant see any remnants of paint.Even in the crevices there is just dust ,but someone could have removed it purposefully when the original paint came off many years ago ,which it does on most examples I have seen.
I will take your advice and leave it alone for now mate....just in case :)

I hope your feeling better John and its always good to hear your advice here.

Regards
