11" WH Tang Mark

Post by VOSGTC »

I have an 11 inch black switchblade, bought new in Paris in 1989. It has a black horn scales, a single edge blade. Swivel bolster release.
On the front of the tang is a "J" over "INOX". On the back of the tang are the letters "WH".

Can anyone ID the manufacturer?

Thanks

The J is for Jndiana, which was the dealer. The maker was one of the Italians. It's probably impossible to know which one, and it really doesn't matter. Being an Italian made one is the important part. Do you have a pic?

Here is some pics. The 11" and his smaller brother bought at the same time, same markings.

Yeah, those are modern Italians (probably a few decades old).

Does the 9" only have one pin at the top of the front scale?

Yes, it does only have one pin there. It has two one the back scale. Is that an error?

“J Inox” was what Zoppis had stamped on the knives they sold.

It's not really an error. Just unusual on a knife like that.

No idea, but that is the stamp shown in their catalogs.

On the flip sidw od the tang there is a "WH" in capital letters. Does that mean anything? I'll try to get a pic later.
