Another addition to the "fantastic four".. beautiful old stag
I suppose it is now the "fantastic five".. I have been putting together a set of these seemingly later transitional stilettos, I just scored this beautiful stag.. stamped "rostfrei 7".. the stamps on these are all different variations of "rostfrei", the other stag one is also stamped with "rostfrei 7", the horn is stamped "rostfrei RV" and the others are just plain "rostfrei".. the knives are all identical in every single way... they even share the same banana blade. they have SS fully lined bolsters, slimmer backsprings, and seem to be the only D stamped swivel bolsters I have seen in this size that were available with the black acrylic pearlex scales. I think they are either late 60s or early 70s. Some of them have 1 top rear scale pin and some have 2.. it's the only variance in the pattern besides the stamps. I believe these to be some of the last original D stamped stilettos to come out of Italy.

Hello,
Very nice collection !
I have a 15 inchs stiletto stag horn. It's stamped "rostfrei R-V" too.
Anyone knows this manufacturer ?

Great looking small herd you've go there. A lot to like about old stag.
Rostfrei is the German mark for stainless steel if I'm not mistaken. Not a clue on the R-V. Hopefully one of the experts can shed some light.

On one of the Transitional I have, the manufacturer use 2 pins to secure the top of the reverse scale. This would take more time to construct, but the knife would be stronger.
Exumer, what are yours like? Any of them 2 pin type? The very top knife in this pic is from you.

Congrats on another knife for your set. They get harder and harder to find once you have that many. Some neat traits on these. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Great set. The banana blade syndrome can be too bad as the picture of the open stag looks pretty straight.

I'm not certain if the handle is stag horn. I think it's painted bone. The bone become yellow with the time.
