krakenten,

You used the term "woe betide" Thank you as it brought back more fond memories of Jim Kelly (switchman). Jim and I has had many a good laugh about the use of that term by the nuns we both experienced while in elementary school. He is missed by many of us.

Woe indeed, as our country is on the verge of falling apart!

History tells us (not the most reliable source, but...) the situation before the Civil War was much like our current state of affairs, deep divisions not easily defined. but held fiercely just the same.

These will be interesting times-I refer you to the Chinese saying.

I miss exchanging messages with so many departed members.

Not meaning to derail the thread but this woe conversation got me thinking of Lake Woebegone and reliving the Christmas '98 Prairie Home Companion show in my head.

Thanks!

Tom

edit: Yes, I think about the departed members, too. Hope I don't become one.

Aunt Bea here: Are we referring at all to Lake Woe-Be-Gone, Michigan?? (You will have to forgive my Dementia.) Because, you see, since the crime rate in Mayberry has reached such an intolerable level, I find myself longing to move there! I'm going to need 2 to 3 strong and able-bodied men to load the truck, and must be willing to drive said truck from Mayberry to Lake Woe-Be-Gone. I will also need help unloading the truck when we get there. I will pay for food, lodging, a meager compensation, and beer (Any stronger drink will be on them.) As appreciation for hard work, I will allow said men to fondle my knife collection. (had some of you going there for a second...) :P

Gary and Leroy, the constables keep things in Lake Wobebon quite orderly!

It is good to hear that the constables in Lake Woebegone have a good handle on law and order. I hate to leave Mayberry...moving is such a pain! Maybe things will change before I am set to leave Mayberry. There is always hope that the crime rate will turn around!

Dear God!
This thread is still alive!
At least it's nice to know that things haven't changed much in the 11 years I've been gone!

I haven't read through all "new" posts yet, but, I bet you guys have already created a commemorative knife to commemorate the first commemorative knife.

Thank you WS.
Foolishly, I purchased a cheap slip joint Italian knife on ebay, which lead to an Anotonini manual shell puller, then I just had to have that ebony, AKC dagger blade 9" swinger......Now I'm back here at the opium den, talking to my fellow addicts.
