Chinese fake or 1980s F. Beltrame stiletto?
Hi, everyone, i`m begginer and have a small auto\otf collection and yesterday bought a new 11 inch stiletto at knfe exhibition. The seller got it from France and assumed it was a French stiletto. But i tried to google it and according to various sources it`s a chinese fake or 1970s italian Frank or Renzo Beltrame. It Has B (capital) rostfrei logo thery similair to this one:
https://lathams-vintage-knives.myshopif ... or-11-inch
and the knife looks like this one, but 11 inch (but the prices are insane on autoknfe)
http://autoknife.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=2620
I checked various sites and some say that capital B is Renzo Beltrame, some say that its fake Frank Beltrame.
It`s inexpensive, but first vintage knife i have, so i don`t know, keep it or throw away if it`s a chinese fake:)

Welcome to Talkblade, Last Vegas!
Your knife is a genuine Italian knife. I believe that is Frank Beltrames older stamp.
Those bottom 3 knives in your group pic are interesting. What can you tell us about those?

Thanks for the information.
Those 3 knives were custom made in Armenia. I`ll post more detailed photos soon. The guy who makes them doesn`t have web site, the only info i found so far is this video on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cklWHf1OoV4&t=2s

Welcome to Talkblade. I think Mr. Whip is correct. You have a nice piece there.
The prices are not the only thing that is insane at autoknife. Be careful if you deal with them.last_vegas wrote:... the knife looks like this one, but 11 inch (but the prices are insane on autoknfe)

I agree with both Whipper and Natch- You have the real deal there. You also have some very cool and unique knives in your collection.

Welcome last_vegas
Nice B rostfrei ,definitely okay and correct and i like the 11inch size switches , just right imho.
Heres a a few B rostfrei 3 smaller and a couple of 11inch knives, one is marked INOX (french) the pearlex white marked B rostfrei in script.
I love those armenian switches and the little leverlock is unfamiliar to me ,looks spanish .
A nice collection and different ,thanks for sharing it.
all the best

I've always been interested in those Armenian switchblades but never saw one in person.
Gravknife, what's with the scribbling on the blade? I've seen HDC list a couple for sale here but I'm not sure what it means or what its about

Knee-deep in the hoopla...

I believe the squiggles on the blade are an old italian threat from the knife fighting days and their vendettas.
There are different etchings but roughly translated "Che la mia Ferita sia Mortale" means something like "May my wound i inflict be lethal" or "cause death".
The more common" Vendetta corsa " il la morte"
Apologies in advance to all italian members for any mistranslations......
These are tourist pieces made for the European market some marked INOX or others B Rostfrei ,and come in varying quality from transitional types ,bayonet blades and lined bolsters,to one lined the other not etc possibly as the times changed.
I hope a someone who knows more may comment as i know a few on here have these and have bigger collections of these interesting knives ,in different sizes .
Regards

Hello everyone and thanks again for the information and for your hospitality.
Here are few photos of small armenian switchblade. Sorry for the quality, i used my mobile phone. i`ll try to photograph other knives with decent camera) To be honest, Armenian knives are beautiful, but almost impossible to carry everyday, because they don`t have safety lock and the spring is very strong, they can easely open in your pocket. I store all them in display case anyway, so for me it`s not a problem.

Thanks for the more detailed pictures.
Re: Chinese fake or 1980s F. Beltrame stiletto?
You have nice variety of automatics. The small leverlock that you have is made in Zanjan/Iran and hard to find, even if it's not vintage.

Very nice photos of the Armenian knife. An interesting interpretation and it appears to be very nicely executed. Thanks for sharing.
Here's a photo of my "Vendeta Corsa" group. 3 13's, 2 11's, 2 9's, an 8 and a 7. All different manufacturers and eras. Most examples are relatively modern construction with the light scaled example a M Italy transitional.

Hi, DonC, very cool and beautiful famiglia of stilettos, i saw one of these at knife expo in Moscow few days ago, but it was in very bad condition, damaged, and engravings on the blade were almost gone, so i didn`t buy it.DonC wrote:Very nice photos of the Armenian knife.
