11 Inch Frosolone by Renzo Pascotto
This just came in today from Lucio. It is beautifully crafted with very heavy nickle silver bolsters and some of the nicest horn I've seen.

I like the lower button. The first time I ever saw a stiletto with the button on the bottom half of the handle, I wonder why they would have put it there. But since I've handled one, I've decided I like it. It allows you to do that thing where you flick the knife when you are holding it with just your thumb and index finger, kind of like how movie thugs flick their knives when they are making the "come on" motion with their other hand (curling the fingers upward while your palm is in the "slap me five down low" position).

Wow I love those. Definitely one of the coolest styles out there.

Awesome knife. Really love the design of the Frosolone.

Hi David,
Wick cool Frosolone reproduction from the master craftsman himself. Renzo Pascotto has made another piece of knife art.

The following was original posted on SD, and I thought I posted it here, but couldn't find it. This explains the button position.JimBrown257 wrote:I like the lower button. I love 13's, but there is an upper limit to size of true Frosy, the assassin's knife. I also love the no pommel look, but the true Frosy is round bottomed with lowered button so that the closed knife can be concealed in the hand with the blade flipping toward wrist and fired with middle finger. Watch the old black and white "12 Angry Men" where Jack Klugman explains the proper use of a stiletto, in an underhanded thrust going for the belly, and NOT a downward stab to the neck or heart. With a Frosolone it's just the opposite. You conceal the knife until the last possible moment, behind your back, deploy, and stab downward. If it were longer than 11" the handle would be too big to conceal in your hand. The pictures were provided by John.
How the knife is held:
Knife concealed behind the hand and arm:
In the following shots the hand is rotated forward so that you can see what's going on, normally this all happens behind the assassin's arm and hand.
Locating the button by feel:
Middle finger on the button ready to fire:
Knife deployed and revealed at the last possible moment:
Now the thrusts, downward:
Thrust to upper chest:
Thrust to neck:

Hi Dave,
I would have posted those photos last night, but I was tired and did not have the energy to go look for them. I planning on posting them today.
I can not remember where or when I learned of this method of deployment.
A great big thank you to you Dave for posting the photos.

That's an even cooler way to handle it. I wish there was a low-button cheapie that I could play with without worrying about messing up and expensive knife.ILikeStilettos wrote:JimBrown257 wrote: The following was original posted on SD, and I thought I posted it here, but couldn't find it. Well, Jim, you don't need a low button to experiment, just use a regular stilletto and position it with the button near your middle finger. You'll note that the pommel is exposed out between your thumb and index, but it works. It becomes really obvious that repositioning the buttons lower would make a big difference, Also, don't curl your hand to much, your want your wrist to conceal the blade, not get hit or cut with the blade.JimBrown257 wrote:That's an even cooler way to handle it. It has occurred to me that, if a low-button isn't available, a smaller stiletto will work.ILikeStilettos wrote: you don't need a low button to experiment, just use a regular stilletto and position it with the button near your middle finger.

Beautiful knife David. Maybe you should send that to me so I can clean those darn ole fingerprints off it.
I don't see any fingerprints but we can't be too careful with a knife like that.
