Get one of each and decide for yourself. You will get all sorts of answers as to what people like to use and it's easier to find one you like. I admit to a great fondness for 3 in 1 oil. Also keep in mind what type of washers are used metal or teflon coated plastic they can be affected differently by the chemical make up in the lube.

I have been using Tuff-Glide for some time now. It works great. Since it's a dry lubricant, it won't attract dust and dirt from your pocket. So far, it has not damaged anything that it was applied to..including stag, horn, acrylic and any of those rubber like inserts you find on modern knives.

I use Militec-1 and you can get a free sample from their website.
I started a thread on another forum and others have posted other free lubricants. Check it out.

When you can't find anything else pull the dipstick from your car for a drop or two of oil. Olive oil also works when nothing else is available.
[I may not be real bright but I'm very resorceful]. Good lubes are nice but
if not available use whatever you can find. [You can always flush out the "emergency stuff" and relube later with the expensive stuff].
