Yes. The Tachyon ceased production sometime last year. The going consenses (unconfirm by MicroTech) is that they released the Dragonfly in order to sell off the rest of the blades created for the original 3000 unit run. At the last count, somewhere around 1600 Tachyons were produced.

hey thanks tonyccw - so if i have the opportunity, i should pick one up! do you think tachyon owners actually use them? i have a dragonfly on the way now, plus a couple other MT goodies - amphibian, vector manual.....
will the dragonfly's be a continuing item with the fine folks at MT?
I have used mine a lot. Pretty good cutting tool, not the best flipper. Personal preference, I find the handles on the tach a little too flat for my taste. Once again thats just me. Too much time flipping PCC and BM balis I guess.
I have 4 Tachyons, and with the exception of the Production Prototype, they're all rotate as EDC. I find them to be a bit small, but very well put together, like most MicroTech's offering. The Ti handles do make them a bit more durable, but in all honesty, the Dragonfly is the better value at it's current price point.
