The ban on importing balisongs

What year did they decide to ban the importation of Balisong/Butterfly knives. When did the government decide they were switchblades? Also, why did they decide to go after Spyderco? Many knife companies have been importing Balisongs for years. Why Them?

It happened one of those years when the government went stupid. OOPS!!!! Did I type that. Damn fingers!! :roll:
