hammer brand

how can i remove some of the scatches and dark patches from my hammer brand blade. thanks for all the help guys with my other questions im still new at this game . but i am learning alot from the experts here.

Some 1500 grit and some elbow grease,will get alot of it off

Try 0000 steel wool and WD 40 first. If this doesn't clean it, then...
A popsicle stick with 600 grit sandpaper tightly wrapped around it, for a start. Sand lengthwise. Then use 1000 grit. Then use 1500 grit, then 2000. Always use the stick, and keep changing the paper to expose fresh grit. If the paper "loads",it will put deep scratches in the blade. Finish with Simichrome or other metal polish.
