Need info on Frenchi

Post by s_witchblade »

Ok Bill ,
Heres another that I need some expertise on . Stamped INOX FRANCE and NOXI in a Circle . Has bone handles . This is an unususal auto . Pulling the tab/Lever on the side makes the blade fly open . The Tab / Lever on the side is stamped BREVETE S.G.D.G. and P.V.616.726 . Any idea how old this might be ? Its a handful of a knife . Why would they make the release lever on the side :?: It seems to be such an awkward place .

BREVETE translates [roughly] as patent or patented. The name or initials after that can be the patent owner.

"Why would they make the release lever on the side? It seems to be such an awkward place." They're French! The French do some strange things. This looks to be a backspring release knife. I have never seen this particular mechanism, but the knife pattern is pretty standard. I would date it as 1960-1975-just an educated guess. It's a very different piece!
