Is this blade shot?
Hello, new to the forum. I picked up this G. Schrade Presto fishtail with broken handles, which I was going to replace at some point. Trouble is, the blade has a chip, in a very important spot.. right where the catch locks the blade open. I know I can get new button catches but what one should I get? Would it be be worth it to replace the blade also, and if so, where would I find one that would be a match to this or is that just impossible? Should I just keep it as a broken souvenir or restore it to it's glory? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

The blade tang can be welded and recut. Not sure if it's worth doing.
I don't do that kind of welding (TIG.)

You can make it a wall hanger by puddling brass to fill the hole,
using an acetylene torch with not too rich oxygen (dirty flame.)
and then cold filing the soft brass to shape.
Later, the brass can be removed.
Warning, you must wrap the exposed blade in a wet fiber mat and aluminum foil
to prevent the torch flame from eroding the nice sharp edges of the tang.
Practice on something else first.
It will work with the sear, but don't "flick" it a lot, the brass will wear quickly.
You might even try J-B weld liquid metallic 2 part epoxy,
You can drill and tap the stuff, it might hold an edge enough to make a wall hanger,
and you don't have to risk a flame damage.
You best shot is to replace the scale, ignore the damaged blade.
and mount it in a shadowbox with a glass/plastic window,
and some kind of advertising behind it.
If no-one can open the picture frame, no-one will know it's damaged.
Look for candy boxes just the right size, with a plastic cover.
I mount a lot of my older knives like this.
