Rough Rider Barlow knives.
I have been looking at one of their Barlow pattern knives for EDC and general use. Any opinions concerning the Rough Rider Barlow pattern would be welcome.
Thanks to all in advance.

Bill: Does this mean it's all the krapola? (Sub 440A)?

Re: Rough Rider Barlow knives.
I understand. I wasn't attempting to be vulgar. No Pakistani knives for me. Minimum? Schrade. Better yet, Boker (true 440C). If I'm going to buy it, I should probably go with either one. I'd love a Case Barlow in Tru-Sharp, but would prefer it in Chromium-Vanadium steel. I'm preparing to buy other things though. That's the good stuff!

Rough Riders slip joints are made in China. I own a couple of them that were gifted to me. They are on par with most imported slip joints like Schrade and the like. Personally I wouldn't buy them more for political reasons than anything else. A lot of people swear by them on other forums. For the money it shouldn't hurt to much to try one.

After all is said and done, (more is said than done). I have decided that I'll wind up ordering a real German Boker Barlow knife. The beauty of it is that for about $30.00 I'll have a nice 440C steel, knife of German manufacture. True craftsmanship, with a blade that will both take, and keep an edge. (It's the same steel that Buck used in their "Folding Hunter" until 1981).
This is "cheap at half the price".

Are the Boker Barlows readily available?

Bladeplay is also a great place to shop! I had three knives come in today from them and the gonzo stilettos. Better than Christmas, never get anything on Christmas, guess I haven't been a good boy!

I am a fan of the Barlow. Here are four of the best looking Barlow's I have seen in ages.
The first one is just incredible. Great Eastern out of Titusville Pennsylvania.
Third one down is a Schatt & Morgan
Last is Queen Cutlery (I think they are all out of Penn.)

Re: Rough Rider Barlow knives.
Here's a Boker and a few more Barlows I've picked up over the years.

Very nice Wazu. I love those deep bolster stamps, that really says quality. The Boker and Case with the bolster stamps are superb and i really like the simple KaBar design.
The Trapper was always my favorite basic style of pocket knife, then maybe the Copperhead but the Barlow has always been special and sentimental.
Looks like I'm on a Barlow mission now

I am a Barlow fan too. I used to have a bunch of them but I thinned them out over the years.
Here's a one armed Damascus Remington Bullet Barlow.

Re: Rough Rider Barlow knives.
Were the original scales on the Barlow knives wood, or were they made from "saw-cut bone"?
