Bill take a look at this

Post by gravknife »

Bill
I saw this magnificent knife and wondered if you can shed any light on it.
It has clock dials on each bolster that I assume are to open the knife.
Its an old blade and the handles split to reveal it.
Sorry about the pictures but thought you might like a look and say wether or not its unique.
It fetched 3000 pounds.
Regards

I've never seen anything like it. Hopefully Bill or someone can tell us more about it.
3000 British pounds is about $4300. US dollars at today's exchange rate . It must be one hell of a rare knife.

These work sort of like a butterfly knife. They are not auto. You have to spread the 2 handles apart slightly to release a pin that locks into a hole on the other half. They are pretty cool looking. I have this one stamped GCCo. and another that is all stainless steel and has a ruler built in. If I can find photos of the second knife, I'll post the too.

Hello Jackelope,
I love the horn on that knife. Another outstanding knife from your fabulous collection.
How big is the knife closed and open?
Thanks for sharing,
John

Thanks John. I think it's 9" open. Don't recall the closed length.

Beautiful knife Jackalope
Love that blade and the horn handles.
Thanks for sharing.
It was the clock dials aswell as the splitting of handles that threw me,i wondered if they were decorative or aided the opening of the knife like a lock.
Thanks for posting.

The closed size isn't that important to me. 9 inch typically means 4 inch blade and 5 inch handle. It's a cool 9 inch pocket knife. Like someone said it's kind of like a butterfly knife but better looking.

Always fun to see what's out there that's a little off the beaten path.
Jackalope: Really good looking scales on your example. Any idea about when it was made?

Thanks Don,
I am pretty sure that it's from the 1960's. I think I have a copy of an ad for one. If I can find it, I'll post it.
