It's a typical Phillipine knife, used as a machete.
The buffalo horn handle shape is unique to the Philippines.

My guess would be "sentimental" at most.
But I recall some Gurkha knives used to be a dime-a-dozen and now one made in Nepal can fetch a hefty sum.
Many are made in India and not as pricey. Vagrant knows quite a bit about these knives.
