Aga Sicilian crack question

Post by easy_rider »

I recently got a blade and the black part of the front of this scale is split. The actual abalone front doesn’t appear damaged. However there is one big split in the black front by the button. Also near the top hairline plastic part is split. I’m guessing this is from pressure from the actual button or metal part behind it. The actual abalone doesn’t appear cracked. Can or is this fixable?
Can you replace just the black part the abalone is attached to?
Any help is appreciated.

Just put a drop of super glue in the void. When it hardens, gently file it smooth, then sand with sandpaper. Use higher grits of sandpaper to polish.

Or, you can leave it alone. I don't think it's anything to worry about.

I agree it’s probably not that big of a deal. Doesn’t seem to impact anything but more a nuisance than anything. The liner does stick up ever so slightly and would likely need a little clamp and a drop of glue. I wonder is this something you could repair Bill ?
I know it’s minor but I love the little blade and would love the liner fixed. I also have a beautiful ram horn 13 inch. It’s literally new but the blade has ever so slight peak on the tip. Is this something relatively easy to repair as well?

I would call that repair. . knife handle dimple 101 . . . .a black sharpie and various thickness super glues. and a very fine flat mini file.

I fixed SOOOOO many black plastic K-12's and "Pagoda Ears" stiletto folders (or did we call it Saguaro Cactus) with Cyano Acrylate and Sharpies.

I recall a funny MAD Magazine cartoon of a California Surfer Boy showing different damages to a foam core fiberglass coat board.
He had named for every size increment damage, A Buff, A Scratch, A Ding, A Poyiut, A Chunk and A Break. .
And the guy also had progressive human body damage . . .but he was more worried about his board.

REMEMBER . . . .ONE ONLY thin tiny drip. . . let dry overnight or two days. . . Like when womens nail polish gets hard over days . . .
sand and repeat. . . . .DO NOT fill a swimming pool puddle of super glue in the crack on the first attempt..

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

YEP, it's me. . not dead yet.

Hello
Does anyone have the capacity to fix these? Or at least the cracked liner one?
I really don’t want to mess up one of the best knifes I have

You can do this. Follow Jerry’s and Bill’s instructions. The first time I filled in a bug bite I filled it like a swimming pool. One drop at a time over several days.

sand and repeat. . . . .DO NOT fill a swimming pool puddle of super glue in the crack on the first attempt..”

I repair them, but I'm not taking work until mid-January.

I used this methoid very successfully. I also filled a wider gap successfully filling the void with Baking Soda first then slowly adding the CV glue. Permanent marker matched the Stag almost perfectly. My tip---use a single edge razor blade, pour a small line on a non-porous surface dip only edge into the CV then into the crack. Take your time and you'll be happy.
