They either can't replace the safeties or they are too lazy to. Either way, it's pretty much the mark of an amateur.
I totally agree, and also suspect the use of "24K Gold Plated Screws" to replace the traditional brass scale pins falls into the same category.
It does.

Personally I like the stiletto with no safety, think they look better and I'd never carry one so I'm not worried about one going off in my pocket. Eact to their own.

A switchblade needs a safety.

Lol, I have noticed that before. It's kind of funny because the safety is like the easiest part. Folding a modern safety in to place can be annoying but the old style safeties are pretty simple.

Well, the knife came back a couple of weeks ago with the hair trigger fixed. I like AIK's service , it's friendly and reasonably quick. Before it was returned to me I received an email from customer service notifying me that they had found the button side scale broken at the button hole and they gave me a choice of material to inlay across the area diagonally ; I chose ivory.

I like the pattern, the file work and blade profile.
The scales are a bit gaudy, but the ivory insert fits well.
Blade is dated 2011.
Someday I'd like to have real mother of pearl scales on it.
