Music????
Hey Fellow Forumites,
Nice snow here. Copping a buzz and listening to some tunes. Been listening to Wicked Grin, a killer blues album. John Hammond covering all Tom Waits tunes. Also jamming to Buddy Guy Live at the house of Blues with GE Smith and the Sat. Night Live Band. Great.
Anybody else like music? What are you listening to lately?

Hi Hollowdweller,I like a lot of Blues myself.Favourite Blues band,Canned Heat, although pretty much most of them are dead now. They are still going but not the same thing really.Lot's of unreleased stuff surfacing. The newest c.d. I bought is The Raven by Lou Reed.A tribute to a great American writer Edgar Alan Poe.The best newish band I have seen the last couple of years is The Alabama 3,Known in the U.S. as A3.They come from Brixton London and they do the theme tune to The Sopranos t.v.show.They do an Acid Country House Blues type mix.Throw in songs about miscarriages of justice, how hard drugs can kill a community.Mix it up with Religeon, namely The Free Presleytarian Church Of Brixton Of Elvis The Divine,do it Country and Blues style with an acid house beat!No one really knows how seriously they should be taken. They do an excelent song called Mao Tse Tung said which on the surface you would think was a socialist anthem but listen carefully and get the humour. If you get a chance to hear them give it a go.I will give you their website, they even have their own internet radio station, playing Hank williams and some Reggae versions of Johnny cash songs. http://www.alabama3.co.uk sometimes have a little trouble login on.I play a little bottleneck Blues myself.Ain't got enough puff for the Harp anymore Cheers the spotlight kid.

The stuff scattered in front of me at the moment that I've been listening to is Junior Wells, Charlie Muslewhite, Steve Earl, Willy Deville, Social Distortion, Midnight Oil. I also have been listening to the new Bryan Ferry he does two covers of Dylan songs that sound pretty nice. Who knows what I'll be listening to next week.

Since i grew up in the 60's and 70's, my taste always seems to turn to good old rock n' roll. I must have every Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin alums ever produced and who can forget the Beatles.
I must have at least one album of every band from those days: Deep Purple, The Who, Santana, Sweet, and all the rest, to many to mention, you get the picture. My all time favourite Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd.

I grew up in the about the same time you did Razor, and I agree sex, drugs, and good old classic rock and roll forever !!!! However, you forgot a few; Arrowsmith, ZZ Top, Blue Oyster Cult, KISS, not to mention Steve Miller, Eric Clapton, and Bob Segar!!!

Hi all!
Mi musical preferences are similar to the ones of razor_54. Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath are my favourite bands, while I love also Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Jefferson Airplane,The Who, Pink Floyd and some others I'm surely forgetting.
However, I also listen to a lot of more recent music, from power bands such as Nightwish or Helloween to a californian punk-rock (mainly The Offspring, Bad Religion, some Green Day and Blink 182).

Hi Mr.arthas, just listened to your music, pretty cool!Definitely a punk influence in a couple of the songs.Rocking Baby could easily be an Iggy Pop riff,I like it but I think it needs to keep that power going all the way through.Just my personal opinion, as an Iggy fan! How long has your band been playing together?I liked the version of God save the queen at the begining of the track! Nice one,Cheers the spotlight kid.
Mr. Arthas,
I suggest you sharpen up your ear to LOUD polka music!! This is the music d'jour at the poker game this year in Eugene. The louder, the better. Once you get that rhythm in your head it takes days, maybe years, for it to go away. Wait a minute, I'm getting the urge to get up and polka right now!! The new age punk stuff gives me diarrhea. I hope you don't try to play that at Eugene because your seat at the table just happens to be next to mine.

If there's one thing I have learned, there's a lot of things I don't know.

Wow,
Our man Dex has a band? Cool. Spotlight and Dexter, I'll have to check the music you mention at work. The phone line up the hollow is so slow it takes me 15 minutes to download a 5 minute song.
I like Sabbath also and new stuff. Ever hear of a band called White Stripes? A guitar and drum duo. The guitarist has a lot of Sabbath sounding riffs.
Lucky that there is a great live radio show near us that we can go and see lots of great live music for a pittance thanks to the National Endowment for the Arts. Check it out http://www.mountainstage.org.

Blues! Classical: Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, Elmore James, etc. New Blues: Clapton (especially when he was with John Mayall & any Derek and the Dominos cut), Johnny Winter, Northern Mississippi All-Stars, etc., I can take Stevie Ray's guitar but not his voice. I can listen to slide guitars 24/7.
I listen to lots of loud, raucous music, but my favorite is low-down delta blues.
