The price

Do you want to talk about your beautiful country, family, or dog? Would you like to say where you went on holiday or how you arranged the garden? Are you willing to tell us you girlfriend left you for a(nother) loser? Do you have ANY non knife-related topic you want to discuss? This is the place!

The price

Post by Blood_drinker »

I think on the eve of this Memorial Day, we should honor the
fallen ( of all countries ) in wars past & present.

The U.S.Army of the early 80's had alot of hold-overs from
Viet Nam ; many of these men ( I'm sure there were women
as well, but I hadn't chance to meet them ) spoke of "the price" -

The price was whole encompassing & final - it was one's life "paid"
in the line of duty.

I'm ashamed I served my year & left the Army ( 1983 ).

One thing that is comforting : my graduating class never paid
the price - but many that followed did...

And it seems we learn nothing from the price paid
in the idiocy of war. But one thing is clear -

"Because of the fate Our comrades have met, we the living,
must never forget"
