Time for disco lessons!

Do you want to talk about your beautiful country, family, or dog? Would you like to say where you went on holiday or how you arranged the garden? Are you willing to tell us you girlfriend left you for a(nother) loser? Do you have ANY non knife-related topic you want to discuss? This is the place!

Time for disco lessons!

Post by Mr_Guano »

Get out of your chair and get on the dance floor!! (an office space will suffice)

If any of you want to refresh your disco - or maybe you don't know how to do it - I got an instructional video.
I think it's finnish, pre-tango era.
Covers the basics only (although we get to see some unconvensional moves).
John Travolta eat your heart out.

You'll find it HERE.

[background info]
The man is Åke Blomqvist, a known dancer.
According to reliable sources, this is some (SOME!) of the dances he's an expert in:
Foxtrot, Blues, Humppa, Engl. waltz, Wiener waltz, Tango, Rumba, Samba, Jive, Cha Cha Cha, Twist, Charleston, Paso Doble, Hully-Gully, Letkajenkka, Conga, Bossa Nova, Beat, Mungo Walk, Batucada, Rock, Shake, Go-Go, Jimmy, Bo-Go-Lo, Sirtaki, Watussi, Mambo-Bolero, Mignon, Pas de Quatre, Pas de Espagne, Cicapo, Polonaise, Jenkka, Polkka, Steppi, Merenque, Waterloo, Velita, Boston Two Step, Royal Empress Tango.

Wouldn't you just love seeing him do "the Humppa"?

Also, despite the fact that he's a teetotaller, he collects bottles of hard liquor.
In fact, he's got so many bottles full of flammable liquids that
he had to get a permit from the FD to have them in his house!
[/background info]

Have fun and take care,
Mr_G

PS I understand we're all invited to the world ch.ships in social tango.

Now that is funny. Correct me if I'm wrong but your from Norway and I had read that the Fins are the most serious people on the face of the earth but they sure love to dance.

Even when they're serious the Finns can be VERY funny  During one of their many wars with Russia an Finnish Sergeant looked at thousands of attacking Russians and said to his 10 men So MANY Russians, where will we bury them all :?:  After the war a Russian General wired Moscow and said "We have had a glorious victory, and won almost enough territory to bury our dead on :!:

Mr. PB,
Yeah, they may appear as a little (understatement) serious and melancholic.
(they didn't exactly laugh they're disco butts off in that video, did they?)

I don't know so many fins, but I think they just seem like that.
Maybe they're having serious (get it?) fun?
They sure love their saunas and tango.

My neighbor met a fin in a bar a few years back, and the fin talked about his future projects back in Finland.
Neighbor gave him his number and asked if the fin could give him a call, cuz he really wanted to be part of this thing.
Didn't expect him to call, of course. After all they just met in a bar!
But lo & b-hold, two years after... he called.
"Hi I'm calling from Finland. We're ready to start up. Wanna join us?"
Trustworthy people.
When they've got good booze and are capable dancers too; what more can you want?
(I'm just assuming Finlandia vodka is finnish)

Reverend Vagrant, sir,
Their humor is as dry as their martinis.

Mr_G

PS, I know some (or only one?) fin frequents this forum.
I don't mean anything bad, I just loved that video.
