Knife shop dreams

Do you want to talk about your beautiful country, family, or dog? Would you like to say where you went on holiday or how you arranged the garden? Are you willing to tell us you girlfriend left you for a(nother) loser? Do you have ANY non knife-related topic you want to discuss? This is the place!

Knife shop dreams

Post by jerryk25 »

Well . . First a disclaimer. . . .

I consider myself a SharperDeals cult member.
and am using TalkBlade as an emergency communication channel.

I sort of feel like a Traitor, publishing my cartoons here, . . . Before SharperDeals Posts.

But, I can't log on. . .I'm on a borrowed Laptop that has a "Net Nanny"
that does not allow kids to surf bad pages. . . .
And it won't let me go thru the Login protocol gymnastics
to get back to posting on SharperDeal.

And I'm just too old and tired to make the effort.

Anyways . . . To all you young guys that have fingers that still work.
Savor those moments where you stand at a vice, and smash your fingers.
There will come a day, when you can't mangle anymore.

When you are not allowed to get dirty. . .

I can fiddle with soft plastics, paper and glue. And a little sewing.

I'm stuck here in a nursing home.
Entertaining myself by making hook-less Shrimp fishing lures out of bendy straws.
and giving them away to pretty nurses.

I'll take a photo of the actual plastic straw shrimp, as soon as I can
figure out how to use my laptop camera and point it away from me
and still see what the image will be, centered. . .too low. . .etc. . . .

Anyways.
Here is my latest cartoon. . . about 90% finished.
Me dreaming about my unfinished projects.
The heart is willing. . .but the hands fail me.

If you look back on the bed. . . . you'll see more shrimp. . .
The LapTop camera does not have good resolution.
You can't see the shrimp details, the folds that make the gills.
or the little notched claw feet.

Also a recent photo of me, with a new scraggly grey half-beard.

That's awesome, you're really talented, I can barely make a cup of water. If you were God, I'd bet you'd make something like this...

Cool shrimp Jerry. Sincerest best wishes to you.

I built switchblades too, stopped about 10 - 12 years ago. I enjoyed it a lot, and the members here were really supportive. I share your feelings of nostalgia about the bench work. I had a pretty nice shop in my basement (still do, just don't use it much), and I would put on some music, get to work, and space out for hours. I miss that.
