Post by jerryk25 »

July 31 2022
the cartoon character George Jetson
had an episode where his 40th birthday
was July 31 2062 . . . .

That made last Sunday his actual birthday.

You are living in the future. . .

a. There are robot vacuum cleaners.

b. Your workday is 3 hours at the office,
. . . and video conferencing with your boss from home.

c. Pets being walked on treadmills.

d. Everyone has a computer.

e. Everyone has at least one laser in the house.
. . computer mouse optics,

f. Dogs can talk. Well. sort of, they use buttons.
. . .See Bunny the talking dog on YouTube.

e. Everything can be delivered to your door.

g. Electric cars are so quiet, they are dangerous to pedestrians,
. . .So you can download the saucer noise to play outside the car.
. . .You may very well hear that noise drive by.

h. You can buy an Apple watch, a TV screen on your wrist.

i. 1950's Rock-n-Roll is taught in History class.

j. Cars can park themselves.

k. You can get instant food 24 hours a day.

L. Everyone talks to a machine at least once a week, if not more
. . . and the machine will answer back.

K. FLATSCREEN TVs predicted in 1962 . . . added by John6553

L. flying cars . . . see links
Tesla Battery Drone , ultra-lite no pilots license needed,
Software avoids electric lines, and if battery drops, automatic landing.

Also, people these days will sit down at the dinner table and take a lot of pills instead of eating food.

They didn't get everything right, though. The Jetson's seemed to think the people of the future would still favor the traditional nuclear family dynamics. And robot maids.

BTW, what was this about a 3 hour workday? Am I being taken advantage of??

3 hour workday. . .
There was an episode where George comes home to his wife at about 11:00am on a Monday,
complaining how it was tough at work this week . . .
But the rest of the episode, Mr.Spacely of Cogswell Cogs, troubles George by video conferencing.

The last ten years of my working career was like that. . . almost.
I would be at the shop on Monday at 7:00am, make sure people had work drawings to follow.
I would visit clients on Mondays or Tuesdays, between 9:30am and Noon. . .get or drop off work.
and go back home to sleep, because I worked all night long from my home AutoCAD workstation Sunday night.
Work at home long long hours . . .but i could take breaks a lot, and I was on the phone a lot.
It didn't really feel like work at home, dressed in my pajamas, watching Cable TV as I worked.

Go back to the Shop Wednesday and check production, but be back home by 10:00am.
Then Friday visit 3 clients at different places in the morning,

That first year I retired, I was pacing the house, I couldn't shake the feeling I "owed" something . .
Like someone was expecting drawings. . .or maybe guys were standing around getting paid for not working.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
I take 3 Lasix pills a day, 2 Metformin, plus 1 Spironalactone, 1 Aldactone, 1 Atorvastatin
1 Flomax, 1 vitamin D gel tab. 1 generic vitamin B complex, 1 Potassium.
and once a week I give myself a Trulicity injection pen hypodermic shot.
and usually about every 2 months I am on an Antibiotic (just finished 13 days of Ciprofloxin)
Sometimes I'm supposed to drink a dietary supplement like Pediasure or Boost for breakfast..

Family meals are a thing of the past at our house.
Our kitchen table has canned food stacked, and trays of dirt, growing salad Micro-greens.
Most of the time the dining room table has trays of spices drying from the garden. (smells great)
We only sit down at the dining room table, on big Holidays.
Or if there are visitors and we have Tea and Cakes. (joke on English Tea and Biscuits. . Tea time.)
I have a sister and a brother that literally live next door and 4 doors away. They are both grandparents.
They (the sister-in-law, and sister) bring food all the time to my Mom and Mother-in Law.
(We just got home canned peach preserves, and Zuchinni bread. )

Usually now I push a Tea Tray with soup bowls and a small pot to my Mom and Mother-in-Law in the TV room,
and I sit in a recliner in the fireplace room where I can see them thru "pocket doors"
which is a big archway 8 foot wide where the doors slide into the walls.
My one younger brother and his girl have a 3 room apartment upstairs. He eats upstairs.

Interesting, I do everything but go to the bathroom on the couch. Retirement is wonderful!
