About Hydrogen

Post by kwackster »

Just today my hydrogen generator came in, and i intend to update this thread with my findings later on.
Good or bad, if any.

Hydrogen gas in cancer treatment: https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10 ... 00696/full
This aspect is also being studied in at least one hospital in the Netherlands.

My hydrogen generator as it came in (cost: 50 euro including shipping within the Netherlands)
It produces 800-1200 PPB (Parts Per Billion) of hydrogen gas with 4 Watt of electrolytic power, while the glass can contain 450 ml of water.
(mineral water is recommended, at the moment i still use tap water)
With rechargeable stainless steel base where the electrolysis takes place, a thick borosilicate glass midsection, and a stainless steel lid:

This plastic part can be screwed directly on the business end, filled with water, and is then used to attach a nasal tube for inhaling of the hydrogen gas.
It also doubles for direct attachment of a prefilled spring water bottle:

Update: after several months of using the hydrogen generator several times a day both me and my wife did not notice any health effects, be it good or bad.
The LED's changing color when in operation sure does look nice in the evening though,
Live and learn.

The experiment to find out if enriching drinking water with hydrogen gas would provide any noticeable health effects has concluded, my guess is that this cheap generator does not produce sufficient hydrogen gas volume to be useful in that regard.
Maybe a more expensive generator with a higher hydrogen gas output might do better, but at this moment i don't feel like investing in one of those.

There is however a second use of this generator that i still want to experiment with, which involves enriching an opthalmic saline solution with hydrogen gas to use as eye drops.
Sounds strange i know, but i found some very interesting research in a US medical database about this that i want to check out for my own use.
In that same medical database i also found several other medical tidbits that do have noticeable as well as measurable positive health effects, but those might be something for another thread.

Have you tried capturing and igniting the gas to see if it even produces hydrogen?
Be careful, BTW!

Hindenburg ? ?

We used to take an acetylene torch, and get a perfect gas-oxy flame,
then hit the tip against a wood block and snuff the flame out.
Then fill balloons up with flammable gas-oxy mix.
You want one of the "punching-ball" heavier rubber balloons about 22 inches diameter.
And put a match head in a cigarette and tape it to the balloon. . . .

and "BANG "

What happens with all this free Hydrogen floating about.
