Bullwhips

Post by Fishtail Picklock » Sun Sep 08, 2019 10:51 pm

I'm looking into a finely crafted 12 plait "blacksnake" bullwhip. A nice bullwhip can be used for entertainment, self-defense, and herding animals. (Father once had a 10' "blacksnake". I wish that I still had that piece of braided leather).

Does anyone else enjoy these ranching tools?

I went to the "Art Of Whips" on Etsy and ordered a 10-foot black bullwhip (+ an 18" fall) for $89.32 (+ $25.52 shipping from Great Britain) This come to a total of $114.84 shipped to my door.

I haven't had a decent blacksnake bullwhip in my hands since my daddy died in 1975. This should be a lot of fun and prove useful for lots of things (you can carry a whip where you can't carry a gun or a knife).

Cool stuff, eh?

Not sure the TSA would go for this Indiana Jones approach.

In any case, please let us see that this Brit Whip looks like :D

I returned home (on Alaska Airlines) with an 8' bullwhip coiled up in my carry-on luggage. There wasn't any problem.

Here's the bullwhip I have coming>

It is strange about bullwhips. A fantastic example manufactured from Kangaroo hide can run as high as $315.00-$400.00 USD. The great part about them is that they "wear like iron" and can be used for herding/driving cattle, "persuading" mules/donkeys and/or keeping other animals at bay.

What people fail to understand is that bullwhips can actually serve on the city streets being seen as a defensive tool rather than an offensive weapon.
I carried my combat cane aboard both Alaska Airlines flights without any real trouble. (Tell me they're going to deny an old Navy veteran his cane while traveling. That's not going to happen).
I also carried the cane on the streets of Tijuana. While heavier than an Aluminum cane, the composite/fiber cane would have been convenient in a street confrontation.

I just ordered one of these 10" Paracord Bullwhips.

This will never rot or fray.
Another cool acquisition.

The bullwhip arrived this morning and is worth every penny paid. This is a "mean motorscooter" and crafted from the finest Top Grain Cowhide. Yep, this is a good one that should provide years of service.

My 16-plait, 10-foot Bullwhip woven from 550 Paracord arrived this morning For $89.00 (including shipping) Acapulco Joe's (Joe and Tim in Winchester California) produce a fine product. A 10-foot Bullwhip with an 18-inch fall and synthetic "cracker" should provide me with years of service. When either the fall or cracker wear out they can be replaced.

Antique Latamas, Squarebuttons, Coricamas; these are among the Holy Grails in out snappy hobby. What qualifies as an HG in the whippy world?
