I want a custom printed doormat (Attention: Ian).

Do you want to talk about your beautiful country, family, or dog? Would you like to say where you went on holiday or how you arranged the garden? Are you willing to tell us you girlfriend left you for a(nother) loser? Do you have ANY non knife-related topic you want to discuss? This is the place!

I want a custom printed doormat (Attention: Ian).

Post by Fishtail Picklock »

I read a Reginald Smythe cartoon where Andy Capp and his missus, Flo were out looking for a new doormat. After fifteen minutes of browsing and mulling it over, Andy turned to the sales clerk and asked, "'ave yer got one that says, 'Buzz Off'?"

That's what I want, not a door mat that says "GO AWAY" but "BUZZ OFF!". :P

I don't know about anyone else, but it certainly suits me!

I would recommend you find a jute doormat, make a stencil and paint your own

Start painting and selling these on your own before someone else takes your idea and makes a fortune.

John I mentioned this idea to my girlfriend over ten years ago. I got the idea when I saw a welcome mat with flowers on it and said " Heck I could hand paint something a lot better than that"

A person could buy jute mats in bulk and do all kinds of themes, such as different dog breeds, flowers, sports teams and even Harley Davidson.
Some people want EVERYTHING Harley so why not a welcome mat?
Jute is very durable, it can get wet, freeze, mud and dirt can be sprayed off so they are the best in my opinion.

I like them, but they're a bit "cartoonish". A simple, boldly printed message will do.

What would be way cool is a mat made of optical fiber that looks and wears like jute but whose message can change as to verbiage and typeface via a phone app. So instead of just "Buzz Off", you can get even more emphatic....

Hi Dave,
I just remembered something in here it is. It's in front of my inside front door. I see it everyday. I've had it for about two years.

Two Dave's here- General David Natcher and the grunt Dave (me)

Actually we have a bunch of Davids here so it can be confusing at times... for them, not me, I'm used to hearing terms like "seriously?" or "get that sh*t outta my way" before my name is yelled. 8)

John you should have a "This home protected by Italian Steel" door mat 8)

I was going to mention you as one of the "Davids' and even as a possible "old fart" but not sure what you Okies are referring to as an "old cart"
Does this mean you are already ready to be "carted" away....please clarify.

Oh and if you are ready for the cart please send me some of those knives because let's face it, you're done so why not share the blade wealth with those that love and adore?
Hell, I'll just drop by and grab those so as to not worry the family with any unnecessary intrusions. 8)
