Beethoven has Rolled Over

Rock'n'roller Chuck Berry has passed. I grew up on a lot of his music. May he rest in peace...

I liked Chuck Berry, sorry to hear he's gone. The second guitar solo I learned as a teenager was Roll Over Beethoven (the first was Louie Louie). He wrote a lot of good tunes and influenced a lot of Beatles.

The man lived 90 years and was working on an album when he died. That's what I call a dedicated rock & roller, it was in his blood.
To a lot of people he was rock & roll. 8)

Heaven has a hell of a band.

I never had the opportunity to see him perform in person, but the videos I did see showed an amazing entertainer. His lyrics were sensational and he could play that guitar just like ringing a bell....

Nadine 1964- I found myself watching the "bouncing Betty's" in the background

Maybellene- 1958 Live
"The lyrics describe a man driving a V8 Ford chasing his unfaithful girlfriend in her Cadillac Coupe DeVille"

Spotting a mascara box on the floor of the studio, according to Berry's pianist Johnnie Johnson, Chess said, "Well, hell, let's name the damn thing Maybellene"

Maybellene was considered one of if not the first rock & roll song but this one really set the world on fire-

He was a little before my time in music interests but he was a legend! If he was 90 he lived a very long time and I know he was a big influence to a lot of big time rockers, may he rest in peace.
