I am unsure if its the 35a or 37.
It's had all sorts of parts built for it and modified .It isn't totally original but as near as possible with the rarity of these cars now.
He is the car specialist of my family ,I'm the weapons lover ......he's rich and I'm poor .
I absolutely love those old cars you posted ,reminiscent of the gangster cars i've seen in films ,the top white is just stunning
I hope your keeping well natch.
Regards
Ian
We are trying to keep dry out here. More rain! Thanks for you kind comment. The older cars had a lot of presence and character missing in the wind tunnel designs we have now.
I was thinking your brother's car as a Type 37 as the engine pictured is a 4 cylinder and the 35's had 8. Love to see a picture of the restored engine. Bugatti engine-turned his motors, and that made them appear like pieces of jewelry. Wow.

Youre way beyond me in knowledge of these cars .
I found these few shots of the engine and he is coming over soon so ill ask him the technical side of it as this is his black beauty of the car world.
I believe he has had to rebuild the engine as alls he bought was on the first picture i posted.
Congratulations on your car natch ....you and my brother would get along well discussing cars ,i dont see him much at all now hes in France retired now and has just got over throat cancer .
Young cutlery apologies for thread hijack .
The last picture here is an exact replica model hand built of this car he bought years ago,its all the same materials as the actual bugatti.

That last picture is an 8. Your brother building it up from original parts is a story I'd love to hear. You can see how the 8 fills up the engine compartment while the 4 leaves lots of space behind the radiator and in front of the firewall. I'd take either one.
Glad your interested Natch
Like many families we dont speak enough, but when hes over next month for a few days i'll ask him more and show him your beautiful car ,hes a lot older than me and loves cars .....his passion.
Heres a shot of his camaro ,a real head turner in the uk ,i loved this car as a youngster .
Good to speak to you Natch.

Ian: If that's your picture, I'm worried about you, son. The last time I saw hair like that, it was rusting in my backyard! (Just kidding)! Love both the Ettore Bugatti and the Camaro.
I have always had a desire for a restored Jensen Interceptor III with a custom V12 519 cubic-inch V-12 (consisting of 1 1/2 6.2 liter General Motors V-8 engines). This Idea was generated from Austrailia and this year, the engine blocks are being built in the United States. These are "bad boys" called the V12 LS1. (Look it up online). With a modified Jensen Interceptor III and a rear end from Jaguar (custom reengineered) you could cruise all the live long day at 190+ miles per hour.
Wow! I've seen the thread title for a while; not being a car guy I didn't look in. Some super looking cars here! Thanks to everybody who submitted the photos.
Not being much of a car guy (I hate working on them, and me a glorified mechanic professionally, go figure) I have only 3 claims to car-ishness:
My great uncle Joe at the wheel of the DiAntoni Special in 1929. He was a professional race driver (twice at Indy, didn't finish), and also a driver for a rum-running operation in NYC back then. He used to tell stories about Offenhauser engines, Lucky Lucciano, police chases, etc. He knew Barney Oldfield, Eddie Rickenbacker, and numerous other colorful drivers I've never heard of. Will try to attach a photo.
Had a few Brit sports cars in the 70's; '66 & '68 MGB's, '65 Midget. Those cars were a lot of fun, but I look back on those days and am glad to have avoided a spectacular and ugly death. I have a few good MG stories.
And finally, my grumpy old man take on today's cars. The last car I actually liked was a '99 Chevy Cavalier which lasted me 13 years. Have had a couple of new Hyundais since, and don't see why cars today have to come with all the optional b.s. as stock. I keep telling them I want 4 wheels, an engine, and maybe a steering wheel, that's all. They don't make a basic car anymore. [grumbling ends]

What a great picture of your uncle.
With permission id like to show my brother when he comes over.
I love the MGBs and midgets ,iconic cars over here although small for my larger build ...they have to be in british racing green and polished spoke wheels .
Couple of photos of your mgs Tom
All the best

Tom
I had my great blur in the 80s and im paying for it now im afraid.
Im assuming these lucas fridges are bad at their job my freind ,but good at giving electric shocks
Im sure i saw a past thread on these fridges whilst browsing here once ,i've never bumped into them personally over here but im maybe too young.
Its good to make your acquaintance here Tom finally .
I thought you lived in the uk with the wren picture and the agent oi ,oi seven reference.

Hi, Whipper. Winter, don't get me started. We think snow tires are standard equipment. Too bad they don't allow chains around here. Did you have 2 weeks of spring and then a huge blizzard like we did? Stupid winter wonderland!
Thanks for the photos, Ian they take me back; I lusted for an MGBGT, fortunately I got a motorcycle instead. I'd surely have killed myself in the GT, as I thought then that driving was a lot fun, and I was immortal. The motorcycle was much more conservative, by comparison.
I too am happy to make your acquaintance.
I'm guessing that WREN is some sort of women's air auxiliary maybe?? Actually, I often use avatars that are what I like, rather than what I am, which is a 65 year old industrial cowboy. The picture of Joan Bennett in uniform, advertising unfiltered cigarettes was too compelling to ignore.
Whipper
Im useless at driving in the snow here in England so i dont know how i would handle proper snow.

The wrens are from ww2
Womens royal naval service
,i thought it was one of them but im viewing on a 4 inch phone screen at present.
Its a good avatar of yours anyway .
Im glad you like the shots of the mgb and midget.,the middle ones a monster.
You two take care of yourselves.
