They hit this site often I can't stand the junk they try to dump on us.

Re: INVASION OF THE SPAMMERS
Most often, they come in clusters. We go for months sometimes without a twitch, then they come out of the woodwork in droves. Occasionally they come from one source, who bombards us with a bunch all at once, and at times new ones pop up while we're already deleting and banning our asses off. I think this kind of thing happens when some new bot technology becomes available. That's just my best guess. Our administrator Arthas is pretty sharp, and keeps us ahead of the new software or whatever, as it appears.

It probably will make the spammers breath smell better.

No offense to anyone but when I find a spam post I not only ban that person but I nuke his post and any one's replies as well. I don't see the point in leaving any reminders of it.
Not sure what the other mods do but I burn all the evidence
Seems like the holidays bring in the spammers.

Must be layoff time. That's usually when they start from what I've seen of factory life.

I agree Dave! I would erase any trace of them.

Re: INVASION OF THE SPAMMERS
That approach is the same I have always used for spammers. Remove all trace. Not an evidentiary thing but pure anti spam by taking away all incentive to keep coming back.Viking45 wrote:No offense to anyone but when I find a spam post I not only ban that person but I nuke his post and any one's replies as well.
