Polar Vortex Pt. II

Do you want to talk about your beautiful country, family, or dog? Would you like to say where you went on holiday or how you arranged the garden? Are you willing to tell us you girlfriend left you for a(nother) loser? Do you have ANY non knife-related topic you want to discuss? This is the place!

Polar Vortex Pt. II

Post by Viking45 »

Some are saying this next one may not actually be a Polar Vortex but rather a blast of cold air.
"Polar Vortex" has been a cool buzz word that people enjoy saying,it has a scary almost intense sound to it 8)
I'm no expert but I think a true polar vortex actually occurs above the arctic.
None the less Southern Missouri reached well under the zero mark with wind chill of 20 below. Wind chill is another term some people have mixed feelings about.
All I know is that 17 degrees (F) seemed quite tolerable to me after almost two weeks of insane cold below zero and it has been extremely windy the last 3 weeks.

Ya it has been very very cold here -20+ temperature which on some days equals -40+ windchill...you go outside and it just hurts!

Windchill just makes things cool down faster...so since we produce heat, it feels way colder to us because we are getting down to the actual temp so quickly. Thats why most thermometers don't show windchill temp because they don't produce any heat. The temp is the temp regardless if theirs wind or not. Its just how we describe it for safety reasons so people don't be silly and go outside and die.

Carter, Gore, and Osambo, have all won the Nobel prize :!:
Is this a trend or a reason not to take it seriously, at all :?:

My thoughts exactly. If these three clowns are given the Nobel then the prize no longer has prestige.
