Hi all,
I have a modern reproduction sword made of carbon steel that is beginning to rust on the guard, which was exposed during storage. The rust spots are light, so I think they appeared recently. What should I use to remove the rust and prevent it from getting any worse?
Thanks in advances.

fine steel wool should do it and wipe it down with some 3 in 1 oil once in a while

Fine steel wool or brass wool soaked with oil should do it. I had great luck with this even on blued pieces.
