It's about to get worse. Much worse.
A nuclear reactor is melting down.

That's very bad news. I haven't been staying up with the news but early yesterday they said everything was ok.Bill DeShivs wrote:It's about to get worse. Much worse.

With all their technology they don't have means of a back-up energy source to power the cooling units?

Ya there was an explosion, and they now moved the evacuated area to 12 miles out. They are still saying there will not be a major incident of radiation leakage. Though they have said that radiation levels in the control room are 1000 times normal levels.
I think they might be underplaying the seriousness of the problem. For all we know these reactors could be on the verge of disaster. one having already exploding thats a scary thought what could happen! I guess two different plants where affected in this way.

Re: Japan
For US [people] any nuclear disaster is VERY bad news
But, Chernobyl proved that, Nature takes the hit, and with the invasive species [us] removed, takes-over
The region, is now a wild game park

Re: Japan
After the explosion, there is a very high probability of a melt down. VERY bad! It's ironic. Water devastated Japan. Now lack of water causes the reactors to overheat... Praying the plant doesn't melt down.

Re: Japan
Japanese officials, are minimising the risks They say the explosion was MOSTLY steam but I saw [some] smoke mixed in
I will await further developements, before forming any opinion

Re: Japan
Japan does not have our semi-open government so any reports, on the [REAL] level of the danger/disaster will be, "subject to spin"
They also are investigating "some" missing trains

Re: Japan
I heard about that. Apparently 4 whole trains are missing....that could really sky rocket the death toll if they were all fully loaded.
