I'm German from both sides of my family, and it's the first time I can recall hearing PROSIT, but maybe something close, like "prost". I just never knew what it meant. My dad spoke German when he moved to New York state from Canada with his family (of 15!!) when he was a teen. But he did not become a US citizen until he was in the Marine Corps in WWII. What that has to do with anything, I don't know. I miss drinking with him. He died of a heart attack when I was only 25.

Same here Barb, my Dad came from Fulda in 1926, you can say it either way but when all the old Krauts got together when I was a kid it was always prosit when they made a toast. :D
