Memorial Day

Do you want to talk about your beautiful country, family, or dog? Would you like to say where you went on holiday or how you arranged the garden? Are you willing to tell us you girlfriend left you for a(nother) loser? Do you have ANY non knife-related topic you want to discuss? This is the place!

Memorial Day

Post by Bonzo »

A few days away, take the time to remember those who stood up and fought for the USA. Although my Dad was a USMC Korean War vet, he was not allowed to fight in combat because of the Sullivan Act. His only brother was killed in action on 05-29-1945 fighting the Japanese on Okinawa, exactly 65 years ago to this day. RIP faithful Marine, I know you and your brother are catching up on lost time.

Always thinking of you,

Bonz

That's priceless!

A huge Thank You to Bonz's Father and Uncle and all others that gave their lives for us.
There are two large Veteran cemeteries here in my town and I always try to visit an "Unknown Soldiers" grave.
Fortunately most of my family members that fought in wars are still alive.
My Grandfathers and great uncles are gone but they were not killed in action.

My brother's wife's best friend lost her son in Iraq. He was in the very rear of a personnel carrier when three insurgents jumped out and two started firing AK's at the carrier and the third dropped to his knee with an RPG. Her son shot and killed all three and more jumped out and he wounded one or two of them but her son had already taken several rounds. All other bad guys were killed and then he died minutes later.
He saved all the soldiers lives in the carrier that day.
He was in the Army.
His mother was in perfect health but died a few weeks later. Everyone believed she died of a broken heart.
