Greetings, Mr. Missaman-

You asked, so here ya' go-

I happen to be a heavily armed consummate patriot soaked in state mandated restrictions who sees semi-life through a red white and blue plywood eye, ironic cynical wiseguyisms therefore come naturally to me.

Glad to be of service.

AS ever,

Your ol' pal,

I believe the quote is "Patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels," and the author was Samuel Johnson...

The right thinks the government is to blame for everything wrong and wants LESS government
The left thinks the government is to blame for everything wrong and wants MORE government :!: [To fix what too much government already broke :? ]

To paraphrase what I remember from an olde TV show (I forget which one):

"Democracy is a very poor form of government... But, I ask you never to forget, all the others are so much worse."

Mr. tequiza,

Thank you sir - That's close enough for Airport work...
It was "Slatterly's People" (1964-65). I thought it was Richard Crenna, but had no idea as to the title. I did a Google search on him...

True, in a Democracy we would NOT have Representatives and Senators. The PEOPLE would vote on everything.

Mr. missaman,

Hey, I'm only the messenger - Take it up with Bing Crosby!

The exact quote from the opening of each episode of Slattery's People was:

"Democracy is a very bad form of Government, but I ask you never to forget it, all the others are far worse."

Now, I ask you, did they mistakenly use "Democracy" when they meant "Republican," or did they mean exactly what it said?

Does my vote for myself in your poll still count?

Mr. tequiza,

Remind me to never, ever fly with you!
