Unusual Chinese switchblade
I also received this knife this week.
I bought it because it reminded me of one of the very first knives which I bought (and still have).
I’ve never seen a blade release mechanism quite like it.
The upper guard pivots (held closed by the back spring).
When pulled back, it releases the blade.
The knife has a liner lock to secure the open blade.
The fit/finish is very good for a $35 knife (with shipping).
Fluted bolsters and a very nicely finished set of dark brown wood scales.
The pivoting upper guard is very well made, symmetrical and polished.
And, of course, the AKC logo.
Which I don’t understand at all. The knife is unique, compared to any Italian switchblade I can recall. It holds up on its own design and manufacturing, no need to pretend to be Italian.

Re: Unusual Chinese switchblade
I carried the lock back you show with it for years. I like the design of the auto. You tilt the finger guard back correct? If it didn't have the AKC name on it ( thereby fraud) I would like it alot more.....
Re: Unusual Chinese switchblade
Yes, tilt/rotate back to release.
The older knife is actually pretty solid.
I think you could notch the guard tips and use it as a shell puller for a 30mn cannon.

Re: Unusual Chinese switchblade
I saw the same knife on sale on Instagram with CZ aus8 stamp (which is better than fake AKC) for 75 USD. They told it was made in Czech republic, but now I suppose it's maybe Chinese.

Re: Unusual Chinese switchblade
I believe this knife is made as production version of master Javier VOGT S-Guard Bowie, he uses the similar type of mechanism. But it costs 10 grand

Nothing new under the sun that China won’t copy.
Is that a hole in the bottom of the blade, near the bolster?

Re: Unusual Chinese switchblade
There was no need for the liner lock.
It would have been easier to make the bolster close it.

Re: Unusual Chinese switchblade
For a $35 knife I don't see why they put a fake stamp on it. I can see it for resale by crooks, but anymore you don't get much of a knife for that kind of money and from the pictures looks like it's worth it to me. Guess it's kinda hard to make a return to China for a refund.
