Hubertus Jagdmesser
Hubertus reissued their automatic Jagdmesser (hunting knife). Here are my pre-production and production versions. As can be seen in the photos, the pre-production knife was issued in 2004. It contains the classic arithmetic error: 100 Jahre (years) 1924 - 2004. The production models followed. They are a little over 9 inches open. My pre-production model is scaled in jigged bone as I think all 100 of them are. The production model is grooved bone and if I remember correctly, there were a few colors available.

Terrific pair!
Re: Hubertus Jagdmesser
Those look great!
I was just able to buy one that has G.Grafrath etched on the blade and Buffalo handle.

Re: Hubertus Jagdmesser
I always loved this model. The ones I handled and see for sale all have an issue with gaps on the back spring. I have to get one some day. I bought a bunch of the manuals.
Re: Hubertus Jagdmesser
All of these had gaps and I did want one.....
Re: Hubertus Jagdmesser
Thanks for the info and the photos Tom. I took a look at mine and there is no real noticeable liner gap, but if I hold it up to the light I can see a little daylight. There is a little liner gap on my production model, but not too bad. I didn't realize that liner gap is a chronic problem with these knives.

Jim when I was looking for these I asked Bill D and he felt it was a design issue with them. I will get one some day....I like my manual ones and can carry them anytime
I recently looked at two for sale on FB by two different dealers. One was red bone and the other checkered horn. Both had gaps that I found too large for a new factory fresh knife.....I think these were both new models.

These are the three pictures of the ones I was talking about. While the gaps don't look too bad in these They spread fast when the knife is opened and closed often....

Re: Hubertus Jagdmesser
Thanks for the Photos Tom. The liner gap on my production model is comparable to those in your photos. Interesting point about it being a design issue. I also have one of the big Hubies (10 in.), and it does have liner gap as well.

I have #86 in the run and mine too has the gap.
Re: Hubertus Jagdmesser
Yeah Jim the gap is always on the lever side and seems to put undo tension on that side of the handle.
