NOS 1959 - Fishtail & Stiletto

Post by huckles »

Hi Folks:
Here are a couple of knives that came from a group of switchblades that are New Old Stock. They were put into storage in a warehouse in Mexico in 1959 and stayed there until they were discovered last winter. Most were in original wax paper wrapper and, or box. There were some Italian picklocks (stilettos and fish) as well as Japanese picklocks and lever knives. My two are a 16mm fish and an 8" stiletto.

The tang mark on the fish looks the same as 70s ish Oreste Dibons. Anybody know what the years of production were for Oreste Dibon? I have several small fish marked the same. Help...

Any done around 2015 had to be the remakes. Mr. Dibon passed away several years ago. IMHO Have not seen fish remakes, but traditonal 14s and 16s were copied (Dibons known marks) with "blocky" scales. Love the fishies...

These are not remakes they are NOS. Very possibly made by Oreste DiBon.
