Does anyone know whether this knife might actually date back to the Civil War...?
The lock tab DOES look 1800s to me, but I don’t know enough to tell if the knife really goes back as far as the 1860s.....

https://www.ebay.com/itm/254686504233 = This guy wants 300+ for the same knife, but his knife (very obviously) has the tip
re-ground (almost certainly due to breakage). My blade is 100% original. Mine also locks up rock solid, and his has wobble.
The stamping is the only aspect where his knife is better. Mine is faint, but I could see it well enough to look up the knife.
The stamp says: H A Mack Co Boston Mass ITALY
Civil War era (?) PICKLOCK from ITALY

if it is it looks like it's been restored... 160 years would probably age wood handles more than that.
awesome looking knife. I've never heard of that company.

These knives are modern.
Certainly not Civil War. 1980s or so.

Correction.
I found this knife listed in a J. D. Clinton catalog that offered switchblades- so they were made as far back as before 1958.

I have recently been notified that photos of this knife appear in Italian catalogs in the years 1928, 1930, and 1932.
I am attempting to acquire pictures that I can post here. Stay tuned for further developments ~ ~ ~
