New "Laguiole" Additions

Post by Chris51P »

I've had the black Laguiole auto for some time. This past summer I was offered a Laguiole that was customized by Don "Merlin" Hall and I picked it up. It has excellent horn scales, the safety was removed and bottom bolsters were added. More recently I bought the red Laguiole. I never realized that there might be other colors than the black. So, now I'm intrigued... what other colors were offered? Is there a Laguiole auto connoisseur out there that may know what other scale colors were offered? Better yet, is there anyone that has other colors that would consider making it or them available?

Those are very nice, we don't see the red very ofter. Most are the standard black plastic, which is what mine is. Mine is very special though, as it was an unexpected gift from our own Vagrant.

I really like the red , haven't seen anything other than black myself. I have a black one with the typical shrinking scales that I have been considering changing. The horn looks great on the one you had done, thanks for sharing.

Nice set Chris. Don "Merlin" Hall was an artist and one hell of a man. He is greatly missed.

Hi Jackalope - I bought the knife from Vince (Veech) Arnone who told what an excellent craftsman and person Merlin was and that he is missed. We all wish to be remembered in such a positive way. I'm fortunate to have something from him after he's passed.

I've never seen these modded to be auto before that's super neat. I wonder what's next, an auto Opinel? :)

Luke,

As a clarification, these are factory autos.

I have only seen black and the very rare red ... Since you already have one semi-custom I suggest you have JimBrown257 make you one in any color you want.
