Those are both beauties. Either AGA is using some unusually nice horn on these or you two hit the jackpot.

I may have to break my two-piece spring rule and grab one of these when they're back in stock.

JimBrown257 wrote: Tue Jun 02, 2020 12:32 am It seems like all the originals I have seen had stag scales. Other than that it looks pretty similar.

Here is an original:

They came in genuine jigged bone, imitation stag, black plastic, and ivory plastic. The originals came in single blade, and 3-blade versions. The originals had a safety. The firing button slid down over the scale.

That's quite a set Ken. Or should I say a hoard?

I think I got these confused with the more common Coffin knives with the levers.

Perhaps the relevant question for Ken is how many examples of each knife in his photo does he have. :D

I only have one of each different example I’ve been able to find. There’s been some different varieties over the years of manufacture.

Campolin Baron 2022 mode I'm very impressed with this knife, no issues at all. Mine has a polished blade, I have seen specs for the 2020 model that reference a satin blade, but some of the photos look like a polished blade, maybe some owners of the 2020 version can chime in. It s a hefty knife, weighing in at 5.5 oz., which makes it almost 2 1/2 times as heavy as the Kershaw Launch 8 (which is 1/8 in. longer) sitting next to it on my desk. As Chris noted at the start of this thread, it is an Italian remake of a 1960's French model. I have been looking for the right original French version for years with no success. My Baron is so nice that I'm afraid that if I find an original I'll be disappointed.

Old and new: after my post above I managed to acquire an original. Other than the differences obvious in the photo

the Begon has a safety, the Baron does not
the Begon has brass liners, SS for the Baron
pin placement on both is the same, with the Baron having an additional pin near the center
the Baron feels much heavier.

I won't pick a winner as one is a new knife and the other is ~60 years old, but will add that the Baron is a worthy remake of a classic. As is usual, having either is good, having both is best.
